Hi, my name is Ryan Johns and I’m a Senior at Eastlake High School. For my senior project, I decided to organize this fundraiser on behalf of my baby sister, Abby. Abby was born with Prader Willi Syndrome. You’ve probably never heard of it because only about 1 in every 15,000 babies are born with it. When Abby was a baby, she was weak and couldn’t eat on her own. As she grows older, she will develop an insatiable appetite, slow metabolism, behavioral problems, and learning difficulties. I’m worried about what her life will be like as she grows up because there is currently no cure and very limited treatment options. I love her very much and I would like to see her be able to lead an independent life. Right now that doesn’t seem very likely but the good news is that research in this area is moving forward and there is hope on the horizon. You can help by participating in this event or by making a tax-deductible contribution. The Foundation for Prader Willi Research has funded over $700,000 in research since 2003. Your donation will fund new research projects that have the potential to help Abby and other kids like her. Come on over to The Beaver Lake Dash on May 3rd. We’re going to have a great time and we’re going to raise some money for a great cause. Abby and I appreciate your support!
